Diana Dedmon, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Nursing (CON) faculty in November of 2019 as an Assistant Professor, Director of Clinical Affairs, and holds the Michael Carter Endowed Professorship.
Dr. Dedmon has been a nurse for more than 30 years and has worked as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a rural West Tennessee family practice setting for the majority of her career.
Her primary focus at UTHSC is to develop a faculty practice program that allows faculty to engage in practice in underserved areas of West Tennessee. The option allows the CON to serve Tennesseans by offering greater access to quality, evidence-based healthcare in rural and underserved areas.
Dr. Dedmon is currently engaged with several grant-funded initiatives that offer increased healthcare access and provide health-related education for patients throughout rural West Tennessee. She is currently the PI on a four-year, $3.9 million HRSA grant that will enable the college to increase access to health care in Lake and Lauderdale counties and allow the college to integrate rural health education into its undergraduate and graduate programs.
Dr. Dedmon is a member of the Rural Health Association of Tennessee (RHAT), the National Rural Health Association, Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA), National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), and American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).
