Family Nurse Practitioner/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

Dr. Mayra Espinosa, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, SANE-A, is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner working in Primary Care in Rural Community Health Centers in Florida. Prior to this, Dr. Espinosa served as the Nurse Ambassador for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay; the only specialized rape crisis center in Hillsborough County. As Nurse Ambassador, Dr. Espinosa specialized in Human Trafficking and Sexual Assault; working to educate the rural Hispanic community and County residents on these topics. Dr. Espinosa’s passion for women’s health, community public health, and serving the Hispanic community blended perfectly at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, where she also works as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Her career and educational paths intersected on focusing on medical care for victims of assault combining all her passions: primary care, women’s health, decreasing healthcare disparities, and mental health recovery after trauma in “Continuity of Care After a Sexual Assault: A Follow-up Protocol.”
