(P17) Mentorship in Forensic Nursing: Reflections from the Field

We discuss mentoring as a strategy to support a competent, resilient, and sustainable forensic nursing workforce and introduce an evidence-informed mentorship framework and implementation toolkit.

Learning Outcomes:

Increased knowledge about:
  • trauma informed mentorship tailored to the role of the forensic nurse.
  • practical strategies to customize and implement a mentoring framework to support the development of the new or developing SANE within their unique practice context.
  • potential mentee outcomes associated with evidence-informed mentoring interactions targeting critical forensic nursing skills that both foster clinician resilience and sustainability and optimize patient experiences.
