Martina is a Survivor of sexual abuse, and recently dedicates her free time to raise awareness to medical providers. Martina was raised in the north suburbs of Chicago and stayed close to home for college, graduating from Lake Forest College with a degree in Art History and Communications. Her education and experiences as a young adult have taught her to see things from a world view with the understanding that the rich and deep history of societies is what currently marshals everything.
As a young woman, she was subject to a few horrific events that shaped her understanding of how the American healthcare system can create, harm, or help survivors of abuse. Since then, Martina has been navigating her way through healing, understanding, and advocacy so that her past may prevent potential wounds and help correct current imperfections that already exist within our medical, legal, and justice systems to focus on the work needed to ensure our communities are safe and trauma-informed.
