Sandrine Vallée-Ouimet, PH. D (c), M.Sc, B.A. in sexology
I'm currently a doctoral student in the Department of Nursing at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), with a background in sexology. I am mainly interested in feminist theories, the negotiation of social norms of breastfeeding, and issues related to sexual and reproductive health. Through my PhD project, I wish to develop a better understanding of Quebec nursing practices (prevention and care) in the context of sexual violence (SV) since the #Metoo wave of denunciation in 2017. More specifically, I would like to understand how sexual health nursing practices have adjusted to social movements encouraging victims to speak out against SV. In recent years, my professional practice has mainly developed with this aim of combating SV, especially with teenager and young adult clientele. Since 2008, I've had the privilege of working with numerous teachers and students on sexuality education in the school context, as well as on policies to prevent and combat SV in higher education settings. I am also teaching courses that mainly deal with nursing theories and systemic approaches to families.
