Domestic Violence Systems Coordinator
Children, Family and Community Services Division Clackamas County Health, Housing and Human Services
Oregon City, OR
Sarah has been involved in the domestic violence field for more than 27 years, starting out as a direct service advocate and emergency shelter coordinator. She was the Executive Director of a dual domestic violence and sexual assault agency for five years in addition to other nonprofit work. In 2015 Sarah became the Domestic Violence Systems Coordinator for Clackamas County. This position provides support to the Coordinated Community Response through organization, facilitation and convening of partners in countywide projects. She has been lead on the Strangulation Response Initiative (SRI) since 2018. This multi-disciplinary group has developed best-practices in the improvement of the identification, response, and prosecution of near- and non-fatal strangulation. The SRI developed the Oregon Forensic Evidence Kit (SKIT) which seeks to improve the medical assessment of strangulation survivors; as of the end of 2023, almost 300 kits had been completed in the 11 counties using SKITs in their communities. In addition to strangulation, current concentrations for Sarah are domestic violence fatality review, the Family Violence Coordinating Council, supervised visitation for domestic violence involved families, and other collaborative projects.
