(P19) Nurses' Lived Experiences of Caring for Victims of Child Maltreatment

We will present the results of a qualitative study on nurses' lived experiences of caring for victims of child maltreatment. We will also propose strategies to reduce the long lasting effects of caring for victims.

Learning Outcomes:

Increased knowledge about:
  • the challenges nurses encounter as they care for victims of child maltreatment.
  • nurses' emotional and educational needs as they care for victims of child maltreatment.
  • the potential best nursing practice recommendations to reduce the long lasting effects of caring for victims of child maltreatment.
